Individuals seeking to establish new service may do so at our office located at 123 North Main Street in Mount Pleasant. The applicant will need to provide a copy of the lease agreement or rent receipt if renting the location. Additionally, two forms of identification will also be required. There is a $25.00 connection fee for all new connections of service. MPPS also requires a security deposit – see the MPPS Deposit Policy below.
Transfer of Service
Customers who desire to transfer their service from one location to another within the MPPS service territory, may do so either by phone (931-379-3233) or in person at the UCES office.
New Construction Service
If you are building a new home or commercial building, please call us at 931-379-3233 and speak with our Engineering Department prior to construction to discuss the location of your electric service and to establish temporary service during construction.
Deposit Policy
Deposit will be refundable when the customer cancels his service with MPPS. All applicants for new service will be subject to credit checks. If adverse information is found on credit report, deposit will be double the standard amount.
Residential Customers:
Rental Customers: $300.00 or $500.00 Home Owners: $100.00 or $ 200.00
Commercial/Industrial Customers:
MPPS requires that all commercial and industrial accounts provide a deposit in an amount equivalent to two months peak consumption. This amount will be estimated by MPPS in instances where there is no historical information for that location; however, MPPS reserves the right to adjust the deposit required where the actual consumption exceeds this estimate.
Commercial/Industrial deposits will be held by MPPS for the duration of the period in which service is rendered. Deposits may be in the form of 1) Cash, 2) Certificate of Deposit titled jointly with MPPS, or 3) Utility Surety Bond
Outdoor Lighting
MPPS provides its customers with a choice of 3 types of outdoor lights that may be placed at their residence or business.
100 Watt High Pressure Sodium ($25.00 installation charge) $ 6.09/month
250 Watt High Pressure Sodium ($25.00 installation charge) $13.73/month
400 Watt Metal Halide ($25.00 installation charge) $25.67/month
If a pole is required to mount the light, a minimum of $100.00 installation charge is required, as well as a monthly charge of $1.00.
